On Earth there are similar conditions in acidic and alkaline lakes.
According to the American experts, the life on the red planet is possible in salt water streams.
The specialists of the California Institute of technology in Pasadena (USA) came to the conclusion that life on Mars is possible.
Published in the journal Nature Geoscience article, scientists claim that the water is “too salty” streams on the red planet may contain fairly large amounts of oxygen not only to the survival of the microbes but also multicellular beings.
In the article, the experts noted that on Earth there are similar conditions in acid and alkaline lakes and living organisms, and therefore we can assume that life on Mars is possible.
However, the opinion of American scientists is not shared by all. According to some experts, the Martian reservoirs can contain such a large amount of salts and toxins that the existence of living organisms in such conditions becomes impossible.
