Network fascinated by the mysterious rock with unique features.
An unusual rock found in the Chinese province of Guizhou in 2006. It’s a feature that’s already more than 10 years, attracts the attention of travelers and journalists from different parts of the world. Sounds unbelievable, but it is a fact – a mysterious cliff in the village of Gulu (district Sandu, Guizhou province, China) are growing “stone eggs”.
Locals know about the rock long enough and argue that the process of “production” stone of the eggs lasts about 30 years, after which they fall off from the cliff. For the indigenous inhabitants of this village yaytsepodobny rock formations, which reach a diameter of 30 cm, has become the mascots: people believe they bring good luck.
What scientists say?
Chinese scientists are also very interested in the mysterious formation of stones and trying to give this phenomenon a scientific explanation.
According to one version, the stone balls were lumps that are formed by molecules of calcium carbonate in the deep sea about 500 million years ago during the Cambrian period (started 541,0 ± 1.0 million years ago, ended 485,4 ± 1.9 million years ago).
“The deep sea eventually dried up and the surface was mountain where you can see these formations. Claystone (hard, stone-like clay rock) eventually “run down” and crumbled, leaving on the surface of the egg-shaped structure” – requires the office of the Bureau of Geology and mineral exploration of Guizhou province Wang Shangguan.
His colleague from the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences Professor Xu Runhua agree with such assumptions, but challenged the speculation Shangguan Wang, stating that the “egg” is formed from silicon dioxide. According to the Professor, before a similar phenomenon was observed in Sochi and Xinjiang in the North and North-West China.
