Samsung has registered in the world intellectual property organization a patent that describes a completely frameless smartphone.
The document States that users increasingly prefer larger gadgets, so the company is considering the possibility of creating a device whose entire front is the screen. To do this, the manufacturer needs to solve a number of design issues, for example the location of the antenna without signal degradation.
Judging by the images Samsung intends to continue to use displays with curved edges. Moreover, the company can begin to bend the screens not only the sides but also top and bottom.
One of the drawings and does shows that Samsung is considering the possibility to bend the screen on the back. As example on a small part of the rear display may display information about an incoming call. This can be useful when the smartphone is on the table face down.
Samsung needs to address the issue of placing standard components on the front side. In one embodiment, it is indicated that the front camera can be under the screen. When not in use, the module will not be visible, but when required, the area will become transparent.
Expect a fully edge-to-edge smartphone in the next year is not worth it. Perhaps Samsung will make such anniversary Galaxy S.
