About the increase in sales to $50 billion
The Russian President called for increased trade between the two countries. According to Vladimir Putin, in 2017, it has increased by almost a quarter, to $32.4 billion. It is expected the growth of mutual trade in 2018. “We will be able to bring mutual trade to $50 billion,” — said the Russian leader.
He also said that the volume of accumulated Russian capital investment in Belarus ‘ economy exceeds $3.9 billion. In turn, Belarusian companies have invested in Russia about $620 million
About the issues in order of crossing the border
Alexander Lukashenko noted that he expects the resolution of issues at the intersection of the Belarusian-Russian border.
“A good example in terms of the need to ensure the safety of passing in Russia of world football championship we are sensitive to the position of the Russians on the application of the elements of border control. But expect all remaining issues at the intersection of the Belarusian-Russian border to be settled,” he said.
Mutual barriers to trade
Also, the Belarusian President stressed the importance of the elimination of mutual barriers and exceptions, and creation of equal competitive environment for the further development of trade relations with Russia.
“In 2017, we have overcome the decline in mutual trade and reached its height. Today it is very important to consolidate the positive trends and further increase trade relations between our countries. Including by the elimination of mutual barriers, exemptions, and creation of equal competitive environment”, — said Alexander Lukashenko.
On cooperation in the energy sector
The President of Russia, in turn, spoke about what he sees good opportunities for further strengthening of cooperation with Belarus in energy sphere. Vladimir Putin stopped at a perspective for Belarus and Russia projects. In particular, he drew attention to the fact that Russian companies are being built in Belarus plant for the production of carbon black used in the automotive and chemical industries. “Erected factory of building materials, the enterprises for processing of grain. And these projects are worth about $480 million,” he said.
According to Vladimir Putin, there are great prospects in the energy sector. He drew attention to the fact that at the end of next year will launch the first power unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, and in 2020 — second unit. “The volume of Russian investment in the construction of the station was $10 billion,” — said the Russian leader.
