Special envoy of the US state Department in Ukraine Kurt Volker rejected claims of the Kremlin that the Russian-speaking population in Eastern Ukraine are in any way oppressed.
In an interview with DW, Walker said the only territory where Russian-speaking inhabitants are suffering, is the area under the control of Russian forces.
“So if there is another way to ensure the safety of people there is no presence of Russian forces, it might be better for all. We agreed to think about the security scenarios, and talked about the political process,” he said.
Earlier, Walker said that the White house is becoming more and more popular opinion that the US should influence the conflict in the Donbass, which is only getting worse over time.
