Russian sport is again under threat of suspension

General Director of the Russian anti-doping Agency (RUSADA) Yuri Hanus said that Russia could lose the right to hold international competitions because of the situation with the non-admission of representatives of the world anti-doping Agency (WADA) in the Moscow laboratory. His words leads TASS.

The members of the WADA are unable to obtain access to the lab due to the fact that the hardware they use for data collection have not been certified in accordance with Russian legislation. The Russian side has the opportunity to solve the problem before December 31.

If WADA will not have access to the designated time, the status of RUSADA will again be abolished. In this case, Russia will not be able to host international competitions, Russian athletes will not be allowed to play abroad.

The Executive Committee of WADA decided to restore RUSADA rights on September 20. The Russian Agency was deemed not relevant to the WADA Code in 2015, and then broke the doping scandal that led to the removal of some of the athletes and depriving them of the opportunity to participate in the 2016 Olympics. Because of this, the Games in Pyeongchang, domestic athletes were under a neutral flag in status of the Olympic athletes from Russia.
