Russian scientists have created the first magnets for the NICA Collider

Work on the Assembly and testing of the structural elements of the NICA Collider has continued during the whole period of isolation, during this time, the modules with dipole magnets have been fully assembled and prepared for transportation to storage prior to their installation in the tunnel of the Collider.

MOSCOW, June 11. /TASS/. The staff of the joint nuclear Institute (JINR) has developed and successfully tested the first magnets for the NICA Collider (NICK), whose establishment in Dubna, Moscow region financed by national project “Science.” About it on Thursday has informed a press-service of the Institute.

“Today, 11 June, 1-St building of the Laboratory of high energy physics JINR – room of the Synchrophasotron at JINR – delivered to the storage module of four dipole magnets for the NICA Collider. Just at the moment in the 1st shell contains eight fully ready for installation in the ring of modules. These elements Collider successfully completed the entire test cycle, their parameters meet the technical requirements”,- is spoken in the message.

The Institute noted that work on the Assembly and testing of the structural elements of the NICA Collider has continued during the whole period of isolation, during this time, the modules with dipole magnets have been fully assembled and prepared for transportation to storage prior to their installation in the tunnel of the Collider.

NICA (NICA) – one of six projects class “magicians” in Russia, according to which at JINR Collider will be built. This setting, as scientists hope, will allow us to understand how in the first moments after the Big Bang, the Universe was formed protons and neutrons. At full power, the Collider should start operating in 2023. JINR is the largest international scientific center that is managed by a Committee of representatives of 18 participating countries.
