The Metropolitan compared the icons on the desktop gadget with Church icons.
The popularity of Apple products is directly linked using the experience, which is practiced by the Church. This was stated by Russian priest Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk on the TV channel Russia-24.
“When computers were being created, and I had the opportunity to follow this process almost from the beginning, the computer operated solely with the text, and then began to appear the products of the company Apple, where instead of text began to appear what they call “icon” – an icon, image, each of which leads somewhere,” said the Metropolitan.
The priest also said that religious icons likewise are a window into another world.
“Not accidentally, the creators of this system have used the fact that the Church knew for centuries, it is not accidental that we in the Church of many icons, and the faithful our homes have icons, pray to these icons, because each icon is like a window into another world,” said Hilarion.
