Russian foreign Minister: Moscow ready for dialogue with Kiev

Russia is open to constructive dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation with Ukraine.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of friendship, cooperation and partnership between the Russian Federation and Ukraine from may 31, 1997 at the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation made a special statement.

“Big contract, as we informally call it, has become the backbone document of bilateral relations. Enclosing it in 1997, the leaders of Russia and Ukraine were set to continue the close interaction and in-depth development of relations,” – said in a statement on the website of the foreign Ministry.

Moscow reminded the hopes of those years on the development and strengthening of bilateral relations with Kiev.

“Big Treaty became the framework of the pashas of the legal framework, on the basis of which was signed dozens of documents in all areas of Russian-Ukrainian cooperation”, – stressed in the Department.

To the fact that today relations between the countries are far from the spirit and letter of the Contract in 1997, the Russian foreign Ministry blamed the events in Kiev in the winter of 2014, calling them “coup”.

“However, the very existence of this document serves as the guarantee of a Foundation for the revival of bilateral relations. Despite the openly hostile actions of the current Kiev authorities do not tire of repeating that the Russian side is open to constructive dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation. We have no doubt that sooner or later we will come to need to restore full-fledged relations between our countries and peoples”, – stated in the message.
