The inhabitant of Vladimir region died from rabies, which is contracted after a bite from a raccoon dog. Informs on Tuesday regional management of Rospotrebnadzora.

According to management, the inhabitant of Vladimir region in early October, worked at a sand quarry in Yuriev-Polsky district.

“At lunchtime was bitten by a raccoon dog, and medical help is not addressed, October 30, was hospitalized in the INSTITUTION IN “Yuriev-Polsky CRB”. On the fourth of November in the intensive care unit the patient died”, — stated in the message.

Rabies is an acute infectious disease caused by a neurotropic virus that affects the Central nervous system. The disease included in the list of especially dangerous animal diseases. Sources of illness can be both wild and domestic animals.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, every year from the disease killed 59 thousand inhabitants of the Land, half of them children. In Russia, according to the Agency, from 2012 to 2016 from rabies died 23 persons.
