The Central Bank of the Russian Federation recognized the attack of the virus WannaCry on Russian banks.
The Russian Central Bank has reported documented cases of compromised resources of the Russian banks as a result of cyber attacks using malicious software Wannacry, although previously, the regulator said that there were no casualties.
In the case of the Bank of Russia assured that the consequences of these incidents were resolved promptly.
At the end of last week from the virus WannaCry affected tens of thousands of computers in almost 100 countries.
The center for monitoring and responding to computer attacks in the financial sphere (Finart) CBR recorded computer attacks on Russian banks using Wannacry may 12.
According to the Agency, then the Russian regulator said that the results of cyber attacks, the facts compromising the resources of banks were recorded.
The largest Russian Bank “Sberbank” has acknowledged that there have been attempts to infiltrate the infrastructure, but security handled it.
The CBR also started to publish information about the detected cyberrisk and cyber attacks on banks and on measures of protection against them.
“Currently, the greatest threat to financial institutions represent attempts of intruders to obtain access in their local area network for distribution of malicious software, including those designed for secure file encryption,” reports of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
The regulator said that back in April, had sent recommendations about installing the security update package for Windows including the security update that is able to resist malicious software Wannacry.
