Russian Archbishop was not allowed to Ukraine

The rector of the Moscow theological Academy Archbishop Ambrose (Vitaly Yermakov) was refused entry to the territory of Ukraine.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church and society and the media Vladimir Legoyda.

“Archbishop Ambrose today in Kiev on passport control were not allowed in Ukraine. The Lord arrived on the day of the act of the Kiev theological Academy, who now will be without him. We are waiting for details,” – said Legoyda.

In turn, the Deputy Chairman of the Department for external Church relations of the UOC Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich said that Ambrose not missed on the border “without explanation”.

“Currently, Bishop Ambrose is going to fly back to Moscow”, – he added.

In the Russian Orthodox Church has expressed regret in connection with refusal of the Ukrainian authorities to allow the entry of Archbishop Ambrose.

“The Ukrainian government has closed him (Ambrose – ed) in the country, probably considering him a spy,” said the Secretary of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate on inter-Orthodox relations, Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk.
