The main costs will take on Kazakhstan.
The head of state Corporation “Rosatom” Igor Komarov said that the first launch of the new Russian spacecraft “Federation” will be carried out in 2022 from the Baikonur cosmodrome.
As reported TASS, the head of Roscosmos announced serious budget cuts spaceports, since the major costs of the ground infrastructure for the project of a manned spacecraft will take on Kazakhstan.
The first launch of the “Federation” will be carried out with the help of the carrier rocket “Soyuz-5” on the launch pad of the Baikonur cosmodrome.
Igor Komarov noted that the launch of the new booster will significantly reduce the cost of launching a payload into orbit and substantially improve the efficiency of launch services in a competitive environment.
It is noted that Roscosmos plans to maintain and develop cooperation with Kazakhstan. In addition, partial funding of the development of the rocket “Soyuz-5” will be available from private investors — for example, interest in the project was expressed by the S7 company.
The publication adds that reusable manned spacecraft “Federation” to replace manned spacecraft series “the Union” and automatic cargo ships of a series “Progress”. He will be able to carry up to six crew members, 500 pounds of cargo and be in free flight up to 30 days.
Within the orbital station — up to 1 year.
