Medvedev has signed the corresponding order.

The Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on the reduction of quotas for the issuance of permits for temporary residence in the country of foreigners and people without citizenship. This is stated on the website of the Cabinet on Friday, November 24.

In August it was reported that more than half of respondents “Levada Center” called for restriction of inflow of labour migrants. In the absence of barriers for newcomers spoke only 6 percent. Almost a third of respondents said that they do not care.

In June it was reported about the development in the interior of the new concept of work with people coming from other countries. It is proposed to establish information and legal support for immigrants, courses in Russian language and a special TV channel. The police Department also advocated the stimulation of student and academic immigration from abroad and differential treatment for migrants from countries with unstable political situation.
