Russia left troops in Belarus after the exercises “West-2017”, – Muzhenko

Muzhenko said that Russia was scheduled to participate in exercises 3 thousand soldiers, but in Belarus they arrived much more.

“We have information that they brought only a few units from the stated 12.5 thousand soldiers, of which supposedly 3 thousand were Russians, but there actually was much more,” he said.

The head of the General staff said that Russia withdrew some troops defiantly to simulate the return to places of permanent deployment of the military contingent.

“Russia has demonstrated, and it was primarily a demonstration, the return of aviation units: they withdrew from the airfields and flew to Russia. But we understand that 300-400 km for aircraft is the distance that can be overcome in a very short time,” he said.
