The Russian military today conducted a successful test launch of a solid-fuel Intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) RS-24 YARS. The launch was carried out from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region, reports the Ministry of defence of the Russian Federation.
“The main purpose of the launch is to confirm the reliability of a series of rockets of the same class. The experimental warheads arrived at the specified area on the Kura testing range on the Kamchatka Peninsula. The goals achieved, objectives met in full”, – stated in the message of military Department.
Recall that the PC-24 YARS – Russian solid-propellant Intercontinental ballistic missile developed by the Moscow Institute of thermal technology. In the future, YARS to replace ICBM PC-18 and PC-20, and together with the Topol-M to form the basis of the Russian strategic Missile forces (RVSN).
Now missiles YARS equipped with Kozelsk (Kaluga region) and Tatishchev (Saratov region) connection strategic missile forces.
