In Russia may block “bad” foreign media.
In the Federation Council to discuss the issue of blocking the foreign media hanging on Russia for violation of the Russian legislation.
“[Should] provide a legal framework which will allow you to adjust the Russian-language media, having an audience in Russia, even if they are registered abroad. To oblige the media to disclose their sources of funding at the request of the Ministry of justice and to report on its activities in accordance with the law on foreign agents” – said Klimov.
He said he was already working on it. “Failure to comply with legislation [need] to authorize the Roskomnadzor to block such media on the territory of Russia”, – he added. In addition, the Federation Council of the Russian Federation proposed to give the justice Ministry the authority to monitor the financing sources of the media. And if the media’s gonna have foreign funding, they will need to report their activities to law registered as a foreign agent.
The Kremlin said that such initiatives need the most detailed work in all departments. “To speak of a single position is premature,” – said the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.
The Commission, which included Senator Klimov, was created in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation in mid-June of 2017.
