“Angara” – a family of Russian carrier rockets of different classes, from light to heavy, which was created as a replacement for rockets “proton-M” and “Roar”. There was only two launches, both from Plesetsk: light “Angara-1.2 PP” was launched in July 2014, heavy Angara-A5 in December 2014.

In the feasibility study of the project of the Federal space program for 2016-2025, it was stated that the cost of manufacturing the first heavy Angara-A5 launched in late 2014 from the Plesetsk cosmodrome, amounted to about 4.5 billion rubles (in prices of that year).

The third launch military satellites on Board was scheduled for December 2016.

Roscosmos reported that by the end of 2016 Russia by number of space launches for the first time surpassed not only the US but China.
