Russia has imposed sanctions against North Korea

On 16 October, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the corresponding decree.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on sanctions against North Korea. Document dated 30 November 2016 published on Monday, October 16, on the official Internet portal of legal information.

Thus, the decree contains a list of individuals and entities associated with the DPRK’s nuclear programme or its ballistic missile programme, are subject to restrictions.

Also expanding the list of dual-use goods and other items, the import of which to the DPRK is prohibited because of their potential use for missile and nuclear programs of the country.

According to the decree, introduced additional prohibitions on trade, economic, banking, financial and scientific-technical cooperation with the DPRK.

In particular, it prohibits the acquisition in Korea of copper, Nickel, silver and zinc.

Putin instructed to deprive the state registration in the Russian Maritime court associated with the implementation of the nuclear program of the DPRK, and to prohibit such vessels in the Russian ports. The exceptions are the cases when entry into port is required in connection with the emergency.

Within 90 days from the date of adoption of the resolution required to close all representative offices of banks of the Russian Federation in the DPRK. Individuals and organizations are prohibited from funding support for trade with the DPRK through public and private channels.

Suspended scientific and technical cooperation with the participation of persons or groups representing the DPRK, with the exception of exchanges in the field of medicine; increases the list of specialties, banned from training on the territory of the member States of the UN North Korean citizens.

Expanding targeted restrictions against several North Korean individuals and legal entities, as well as a list of goods, including “luxury items”, import/export of which to/from, DPRK is prohibited.
