Russia has frozen the mission to the Sun

Work on the mission “Interheliozond” suspended at the stage of preliminary design, however, the preliminary date of launch of spacecraft to the Sun remains unchanged and is scheduled for 2026. The launch of the “Interheliozond” is scheduled for 2026 from the Baikonur cosmodrome on the carrier rocket “Soyuz-2” with the upper stage “Fregat”. Its task is the study of stars with close distances and the inner heliosphere, the determination of the mechanisms heating the solar corona and accelerate the solar wind, observation of the solar atmosphere and corona in polar and Equatorial regions.
