In Russia will create a Federal national cultural autonomy of Abaza. This decision was taken by the founding Congress of public organisations of Abaza ethnicity.
The Chairman of public organization “Federal national cultural autonomy of Abaza of Russia” was elected Deputy speaker of the Parliament of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Mussa ekzekov. The founders of the new organization was organized by the regional autonomy of Abaza in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and Stavropol Krai. In the near future documents will be filed for official registration of Federal autonomy.
As noted by Mussa ekzekov, this decision is consistent with the vector of national policy identified by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin at a recent meeting of Council for interethnic relations. The head of state stressed the importance of the North Caucasus for multinational Russia.
“Here for centuries side by side there live representatives of many peoples of our country, and each one is unique, distinctive, rightfully proud of its history, language, culture, their heroes, their workers, the athletes. Here honored traditions, such as hospitality, respect for parents, elders, family,” — said the President of the Russian Federation.
Vladimir Putin has set the task to heads of regions to keep the issues of the state national policy on continuous personal control, and to rely on national-cultural public associations. In particular, he noted the need “to make more systematic collaboration between these organizations and authorities at all levels, from municipal to the Federal, and managers at all levels must, of course, to listen to the position of authoritative opinion, the initiative of the representatives of national diasporas”.
“Abaza ethnic group today is actively developing in many respects due to the growth of public initiatives. In the framework of the international Association for development of the Abaza-Abkhazian ethnos “Alashara” we have created an effective model of joint work of public associations, patrons and the state. As a result, today there is a revival of Abaza villages. People change their way of thinking, is revived with a unique culture, a great work on development of the language. I am sure that the creation of the Federal national-cultural autonomy will bring this work to a new level and at the same time give the opportunity to present the model of “Alashara” for the development of the ethnic group at the Federal level, which could become an example for all the peoples of Russia”, — said Mussa ekzekov.
As noted at the Council for interethnic relations, national and cultural public associations are an integral part of the mechanism of implementation gosnatspolitiki, partners, public authorities, the civil society, without which coordination of the relationship between citizens and the state becomes much more difficult. Today the Russian Federation has established and operates 1 THD 210 national-cultural autonomies, but only 20 of them have Federal status.
Abaza (Abaza people) — one of the autochthonous peoples of the Caucasus, related to the Abkhaz-Adyge peoples. Live mostly in Karachay-Cherkessia — 36 thousand 919 people (as of census 2010), more than 5 thousand also live in Stavropol Krai, Kabardino-Balkar Republic, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and other regions of the country. The Diaspora community in the middle East can count about 500 thousand people.
