Russia waits from the USA of explanations concerning the Russian companies targeted by the sanctions against the DPRK.
The introduction of United States sanctions against three Russian companies and one Russian citizen causes confusion and deep frustration, said the Deputy permanent representative to the UN Vladimir Safronkov.
“I would like to hear an explanation from the American side in relation to the announced on June 1, the extension of us sanctions against the DPRK, which was hit by three Russian companies and one citizen of our country. This step causes bewilderment and deep disappointment,” he said Friday at a meeting of the UN security Council after the unanimous adoption of the resolution, the extension of the sanctions list against North Korea.
“We have repeatedly said that the mechanism of unilateral restrictions is illegal from the point of view of international law,” – said Safronov.
According to him, “practice shows the ineffectiveness of such measures and, moreover, the destructiveness of the approach as a universal solution to the world’s problems instead of diplomatic instruments use sanctions bat”.
“This fully applies to the current Washington decision, which does not contribute to the settlement of the situation around the Korean Peninsula,” – said the Russian diplomat.
