Russia blamed Belarus in millions of losses

Russia has once again accused the authorities of Belarus in sanctions re-export of products from third countries under the guise of Belarusian goods. The Ambassador in Minsk Mikhail Babich argues that because of these actions, Moscow regularly loses hundreds of millions of dollars. The words of a Russian diplomat quoted by “Interfax”.

“Russia continues to lose hundreds of millions of dollars because of the sanctions the supply of products from third countries under the guise of products of the Republic of Belarus from the so-called letraset, smuggling, manipulation of understatement of VAT”, — says the Ambassador.

He also lamented the fact that close existing loopholes failed until now, they continue to work actively.

Russia, according to the Ambassador, ready to influence Belarus through legislative changes, excise and custom changes as well as enforcement measures against violators. However, all actions will be ineffective if they did not support the Belarusian side.

“We hope that our colleagues will support us in this, and in 2019 we also have a significant impact on the decision of this problem”, — said the Ambassador, stressing that from 2019 all products entering Russia through Belarus, will be tracked in the system of control over the turnover of products under the name “mercury”. She needs to contribute to both Russian and Belarusian customs officers saw the whole chain of origin.


Russia and Belarus regularly traded accusations in connection with the re-export of European goods that fall under the sanctions in Russia and come to our country under the guise of Belarusian goods. Belarusian producers often carried out simple manipulations, allowing to change the country of origin: so, for example, there was the Belarusian Belarusian shrimp and papaya.
