The incident occurred on “the Volgograd Arena” in the morning of the 14th of June.
Just fire covered an area of about 100 sq. m.
The fire happened at 6 a.m. Moscow time. In the arena caught fire and foam insulation.
At 6:40 Moscow time, according to regional GU Ministry of emergency situations, the workers called the fire Department. The fire was extinguished within an hour. The cause of the fire is not called.
At a fire nobody has suffered. The incident should not affect the timing of construction.
The construction of the “Volgograd Arena” will be completed in 2018. It is planned that the stadium will host four matches of the group stage of the 2018 world Cup. At the end of the world championship “Volgograd arena” will become the home stadium for the Rotor.
The arena will host four matches of the group stage, the 1/8 finals and the quarterfinals. After the world Cup, this stadium will act as the local club “Olympian”.
World Cup matches will be held from 14 June to 15 July 2018 12 stadiums in 11 cities. A list of cities which will host matches of the tournament, formed in September 2012.
It includes Moscow, Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-don, Sochi and Yekaterinburg.
