The chamber said the risks of population decline Russia

Rosstat earlier reported that the natural decrease of the population – the excess of deaths over births for the first nine months of 2019 made 259,6 thousand people, becoming the highest for the past eleven years. At the same time Russia also reduced mortality: the number of deaths decreased by 27 thousand people compared to last year.

Wednesday, December 25, Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova reported that the natural population growth is only in 18 regions of Russia. He said that the current pace of mortality decline was not enough to curb natural population decline, as the ongoing decline in fertility associated with the demographic processes of the previous periods, the reduction in the number of women aged 20 to 29 years 2010 and 2020 to 4.5 million people.

To remedy the situation, according to Golikova, the measures to support families who have decided to have a baby, on December 1, achieved planned results in monthly payments that are on average allowed to offset up to 50% of family income, which “drops out” due to women leaving in the decree.
