The awarding of the drummer of the Beatles will take place on 1 January
The drummer of the British band The Beatles Ringo Starr will be honored with the title of knight.
A letter from Buckingham Palace came 77-year-old Starr a few weeks ago. He will receive a knighthood for his services to music and charity. The title will allow Starr to add to his name the word “sir.”
In 1965, all members of The Beatles were awarded the order of the British Empire chivalric order founded 100 years ago by king George V, who is the grandfather of the current Queen Elizabeth II. Band member Paul McCartney later, in 1997, was knighted for his services to music.
The awarding of the drummer will be 1 January 2018 at the annual ceremony of presenting state awards of the Kingdom (New Years Honours).
Officially awarding Starr and others will be announced next week, said the newspaper.
Ringo Starr, whose real name is Richard Starkey, was a member of The Beatles in 1962. Now as a drummer is estimated at 300 million pounds.
