Renault is considering the possibility of opening a factory in Ukraine

Groisman held talks with the French automaker.

The French automobile company Renault is considering the possibility of opening a plant in Ukraine.

This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman.

“We are interested in developing productive relations with France, and the scope of the auto industry could become another dimension of economic cooperation. We are now discussing the possibility of placing the production of cars of Renault group in Ukraine. For us it is more jobs, and expansion of export opportunities,” said Groysman, who on Wednesday held talks in Kiev with the leadership of the Renault group.

The Prime Minister said that he intends to initiate legislation which would allow to attract investors in the auto industry.

“We can until September to develop the law to come here and manufacturers produced cars. Will work, will be cars. Working together to create a competitive host of the auto industry”, – he said.

Recall that the Ukrainian car industry is in deep crisis

In 2017, Ukraine produced only 7 296 cars. Most of the cars released Transcarpathian plant “Eurocar”, which collects “Skoda” – 6 145 cars. 1 151 passenger car made at the Zaporozhye automobile plant. More no production of passenger cars last year was not engaged.

The new car market in Ukraine exceeded 82 thousand cars in 2017. Renault is one of the most popular brands.
