Police arrested more than 40 hooligans.
In the hospital, Batumi, Georgia, where the riots began, was already 33 people, 15 of whom are police officers.
This was stated by the Minister of health of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Zaal Mikeladze.
Later they were discharged. The hospital only has one patient, presumably with a diagnosis of “concussion”.
Also the police detained about 40 people.
Recall that the unrest in Batumi started in the evening of March 11, after the patrol has fined the driver parked at a drugstore car. It turned out that car put a man buried in the afternoon son. On the way home, his wife became ill, and the driver stopped the car at the pharmacy wanting to buy her medicine. At this time, drove patrol cars and cops, not paying attention to the explanations of men, fined him. Verbal sparring ensued and the driver detained. A man stood up passers-by, eventually arrested six people.
Then there was a spontaneous rally, during which participants tried to break into the building of a local police Department, but the special forces soldiers used tear gas and rubber bullets, did not allow them to do so. Protesters managed to burn and flip over two police cars.
The head of the Supreme Council of Adjara Zurab Pataradze was interrupted by a visit to Turkey and urgently returns to Batumi. Covered protests in the city also went interior Minister of Georgia Giorgi mghebrishvili.
– The police used adequate proportional force, and I want to tell you that this city has been even more barbaric acts than that spent on the same street. I promise that all the persons who were the organizers of this act of vandalism, or took part in it, will be punished to the fullest extent of the law, – said mghebrishvili.
The protesters also asked the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, urging everyone to remain calm and prevent further escalation of the situation.
