Received the first signals from the Ukrainian nanosatellite

Ukrainian nanosatellite developed KPI to them. Igor Sikorsky, launched into orbit.

Since he already received the first signals.

About it reports a press-service of the National technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute named after Igor Sikorsky”.

“On may 26 at 6 a.m. Kyiv time nanosatellite “PolyITAN-2-SAU”, which has developed a team of scientists, teachers and students of KPI them. Igor Sikorsky, launched into orbit! The first signals already received”, – stated in the message

Nanosatellite Kyiv polytechnics along with 27 nanosolution created in universities from 19 countries and placed in two special containers in the cargo space supply ship “Cygnus CRS OA-7”, was on 18 April 2017 launched into space from the spaceport at Cape Canaveral (USA) on Board an American rocket “Atlas V”. 22 APR “Cygnus CRS OA-7” has docked with the International space station. And in the night of may 26 starting second batch of 18 satellites of the University, which includes “PolyITAN-2-SAU”, was withdrawn at a given point of earth orbit.

Kiev “PolyITAN-2-SAU” should be part of a scientific space network designed to study the thermosphere.

However University satellites will perform other tasks of a purely technical plan.

He “PolyITAN-2-SAU” is a two-unit cube-shaped satellite of a standard 2U CubeSat (2U means that the satellite is composed of two blocks-cubes, that is, the shape of a parallelepiped 10x10x20 cm). It belongs to the class of nano-satellites, since it weighs more than 1 kg but not exceeding 10 kg.

The creation of this nano-satellite was made possible thanks to the sponsorship of the Shenyang aerospace University (Shenyang, people’s Republic of China), Fund them. Kalinina, OOO “Dion” and the company “Boeing-Ukraine Ltd”.

We will remind that it already the second spacecraft, which is designed and built under the supervision of the head of the laboratory of nanosolution technology of thermal power Department, National technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute named after Igor Sikorsky’s” Boris Rassamakin. The first – “PolyITAN-1” – was launched on 19 June 2014. The purpose of the startup testing of technological modes of flight and the study of the elements of the apparatus with a view to their further improvement. He is still in earth orbit and daily transmits telemetry signals in the University center flight control. The received data is extremely useful for researchers and engineers, has been used to design “PolyITAN-2” and taken into account in the development of the next spacecraft in this series – nanosatellite “PolyITAN-3”.
