About a month ago it became known that the young Director Justin Dillard will stand at the helm a new remake of a fantastic horror film “the Fly” (The Fly). The other day Mr. Dillard gave a brief interview to colleagues from Slash Film, in which he spoke about his vision for this project.
Yes, if you slept through the lessons in the school of horror fans, the famous “the Fly” (1986) David Cronenberg is a remake of the old film of 1958. And here in Hollywood, going to shoot another movie on the same theme.
Dillard will write the script in collaboration with his constant companion Alex Curerom. The Director stated that the first plan they would like to bring the story and its characters.
For me this applies to both “Flies”, and all of our Alex look at the remakes… no matter what it is, we want to put at the forefront of the characters. I think if you look at many remakes, including those that were not particularly successful, I think, sometimes redesigns are not what you need. Speaking of large projects… we really want to be sure that first and foremost we care about the beating heart of living history.
Want emotional longing, want to feel something. But all you need blockbuster, will be there too. This is a “Golden mean”, which I would like to find.
I think the original approach is from a friend of Dillard – good. It’s true in the modern remakes often pay more attention to special effects than a coherent interesting stories and characters. Damn, and not only in the remakes!
