Radiation makes the Russians even stronger response to the accident in Russia

On the Russian site “Vesti” on 21 November it was reported “safe ruthenium rain in Bashkiria”, which is pretty fun network users.

According to the Russian media, which refers to the Ministry of nature management and ecology of Bashkiria, a high content of ruthenium in precipitation in Ufa in September, supposedly is not harmful to the environment.

Institute for nuclear and radiation safety of France on its website said that the radioactive cloud over Europe, which was recorded by some European monitoring service, indicates on the accident at the nuclear facility in Russia or Kazakhstan.

Scientists believe that the accident occurred in the last week of September and early October. A radioactive isotope ruthenium-106 found in the atmosphere of Europe some of the European institutions dealing with monitoring of radioactive contamination; it was about the level of several millibecquerels (MBq) per cubic meter, according to the Institute of nuclear and radiation safety of France.

According to the Institute, the breach was serious, and, if an accident of this magnitude happened in France, would need evacuation or shelter in protective constructions in a radius of several kilometers from the scene of the incident.

Roshydromet has published data that confirm the “extremely high” levels of radioactive contamination near nuclear plant “Mayak” in Ozersk, Chelyabinsk region.

The plant belongs to the state Corporation “Rosatom”, which was previously denied information about the accident at the plant.
