The Verkhovna Rada ratified the agreement on free trade zone between Ukraine and Canada. A decision at the meeting on Tuesday, March 14, was supported by 272 deputies, “against” was not a single voice.
The speaker of the Parliament Andrei Parubiy said that he would sign the document immediately.
The ratification of the agreement and commented the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, who said that it opens the symbolic bridge of the transatlantic free trade.
The head of state noted that the Ukrainian business has access to the North Atlantic market, which would facilitate Ukrainian exports. Also this agreement will lead to foreign direct investment in Ukraine at the level of $ 36 million, will create new jobs in different industries, will provide duty-free access for 98 per cent of product lines for the canadian market.
“The further ratification and entry into force of the FTA with Canada will be an important signal to our international partners and potential investors all over the world.. In fact, we are talking about the formation of a triangle of free trade Ukraine-Canada-EU. After all, the final stage is the formation of a free trade area with Canada – EU”, – he said.
