If Western sanctions will be eternal, Russia will always stick response.
About this Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday at the media forum BIP.
“I assume that those sanctions will not last forever, and if they will last forever, we will always restrict access to our market of those goods which we produce ourselves”, – said Putin.
The Russian President noted that Russia selectively restricts the importation of goods.
“We have used, by and large, these sanctions in order to retaliate, and so he is not harmed, but only helped. It definitely helps,” added the Russian President.
Putin stressed that Russia in the future will “bear out this principle.”
“We will continue to emanate from this principle: we will do only what is good for us, and try not to do anything that prevents us to develop,” the President added.
Economic sanctions were imposed by the US and EU on Russia in the summer of 2014 after the annexation of Crimea and the outbreak of military conflict in the East of Ukraine.
Russia imposed retaliatory economic sanctions, banning the import into Russia of certain goods, primarily food products.
