Putin made a loud statement about the relationship between Russia and the EU

The Russian leader called for strengthening economic cooperation with European countries.

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin urged to normalize relations with the Russian Federation and the European Union.

“We talked about relations between Russia and the EU. Their current state can’t be called normal, you should try to get rid of excessive politicization and restore the constructive atmosphere of our cooperation”, – he said after talks with Prime Minister of Italy Paolo Gentiloni.

The Russian leader called for strengthening economic cooperation with European countries and establishment of direct ties between the Eurasian economic Union and the EU, he said, could “contribute to building trust on all space of Eurasia”.

Previously, Gentiloni said that Italy would not violate the unity of the European Union, in particular on the question of extending sanctions against Russia.

Recall that in 2014, against Russia started to be applied international sanctions. This political and economic measures aimed at cessation of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
