Putin has promised not to leave NATO’s actions without response

The Russian President believes the action Alliance is a strategic mistake.

Russia will give “adequate response” to NATO’s actions to preserve the strategic balance.

This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with the American Director Oliver stone in the film shown on television channel Showtime.

“For us there are two threats for Russia. The first is the placement of missiles close to our borders in Eastern European countries, and the second threat is that an anti-missile launchers for a few hours can be modified to install shock missiles,” − said Putin.

According to him, Russia is now virtually surrounded by missile defense systems and such actions of NATO near the Russian borders is a strategic mistake.

“Actually, this is another rough big strategic mistake of our partners, because all of these actions Russia will give the adequate answer, and it would mean nothing like another round of arms race. In this case our response will be much cheaper. It (technology – ed.) can be more rough, but it will be effective. We will save this so-called strategic balance. Balance is very important”, – said Putin said.
