The President has already signed the corresponding decree.
The regular Armed forces of the Russian Federation from July will exceed 1.9 million people. This is stated in the decree of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
“Set the regular Armed forces of the Russian Federation: 1 January 2017 – in the amount of 1 897 694 units, including 1 013 628 military personnel; from 1 July 2017 – 1 051 903 units, including 1 013 628 servicemen,” the document says.
This decree shall enter into force from the day of its signing.
