In his opinion the West’s calls to release the detainees of the recent rallies in Moscow and other cities of Russia are politicized.
Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on anti-corruption rallies that took place all over Russia.
In particular, Putin said that the use of protests by political forces “for self-promotion” on the eve of election campaigns.
“I personally advocate that the fight against corruption was always in the focus of public attention, and always positively perceived attention to these problems”, – Putin as saying by Interfax.
Putin also said that everyone who goes beyond the law, including during meetings, should be punished in accordance with Russian law.

Putin also believes that since the mass protests began the so-called “Arab spring”.
“What it led to, what the bloody events in the region this has led, we know very well. We know very well also that it was one of the motives and reasons of the coup in Ukraine”, – said Putin.
