It turned out that the politician has always stood for the unity of Spain.
The former head of Catalonia Carles Pujdeme ready to consider various ways of an exit of region from crisis, including the option, when the province will remain part of Spain. He stated this in an interview with German newspaper Die Welt.
According to him, the crisis could be solved without radical measures, if Madrid don’t aggravate the situation and do not deprive Catalonia Autonomous status.
“I was willing and remain willing to accept another kind of relationship with Spain,” – said the politician.
Pujdeme suddenly said that he personally has always been a supporter of unity with Spain, despite the status of the father of Catalan independence.
“I have always advocated for unity. However, the reason just lies in the cancellation of the Autonomous status from 2010, which was approved by the parliaments of Spain and Catalonia”, he said, despite the fact that Madrid has cancelled the status of autonomy only after the Declaration of the independence of Catalonia.
Pujdeme left to answer the question of whether he would participate in the elections in Catalonia on December 21, which was appointed by the Spanish authorities.
“I will be a candidate only if our ranks will be a strong coalition, and only with the aim to block the application of the 155th article of the Constitution, and to reverse the Spanish government caused the damage,” he said.
