The Volvo XC40 will come in showrooms this year.
Volvo will unveil its compact SUV XC40 in the second half of this year, said the boss under developments and research Henrik green.
Earlier it was confirmed, the car is based on the CMA architecture the Swedish automaker, which he will share with the first SUV and other models Chinese manufacturer Lynk & Co parent company Geely.
The third SUV Volvo is going to take away a part of buyers from the BMW X1 and Audi Q3. According to green, “there is a big chance that [XC40] will become the most successful car in the Volvo model range” and will give the automaker “significant growth in the next three to four years.” The launch of the SUV will open a new family of models 40 series, including the replacement of the V40. Someone can come for them and other off-road version.
“For me, these three SUVs very good base. Bodystyle. This is an example of what can be done with SUVs. They started as Rovers, and then moved to the city and gave customers a comfortable entry and exit, visibility, traffic and a sense of reason in the team. All of these attributes we could give to clients in many different forms and bodies, but not necessarily traditional” – he said.
This year Volvo will also launch the second generation of the crossover XC60. And soon will come and the successors of the sedan S60 and S60 universal. Then the XC90 will become the “old” model of the automaker. The first all-electric model, the Swedes are planning to launch in 2019. But despite the projected growth of electric vehicles and increasing pressure on diesel, the company, according to green, continues to develop diesel units.
