The security service of Ukraine prevented illegal use of military weapons during peaceful protests on the Maidan in Kiev. This was announced by the chief of staff of the SBU Oleksandr Tkachuk and head of the Main Directorate of military counterintelligence OCD SBU the General-the major Sergey Levchenko during a briefing on Wednesday, February 22. When the control arms, which he’s planning to move to Kiev for use during mass events in the period 20 – 22 February, he was arrested by the operatives of military intelligence.

“The identity of the attacker is very interesting. He is a supporter of the far-right of the fan movement promoted the ideas of pan-Slavism. In addition, the contractor, according to operational data, and according to him, supports the ideology of creating a fake psevdogosudarstvennyh formations” – said Tkachuk.

Alexander Tkachuk noted that all of the actions and intentions of the attacker was under the full control of military counterintelligence and thoroughly documented in the course of covert investigative actions – the control of crime.

“We knew his every move and all the plans. We knew exactly to the specific location of the weapons; the place where he wanted her to temporarily hide, and how to smuggle in the capital,” – said Levchenko.

He stressed that appetite military was not limited to the machines.

“The contractor wanted to buy very specific models of weapons: silenced sniper rifles and heavy machine guns of Russian production”, – he said.

Currently, investigators of the military Prosecutor’s office opened criminal proceedings under article 263 (Illegal weapon handling) Criminal code of Ukraine. The article can be changed in the course of the investigations that are ongoing.
