The absence of the bones of prehistoric biological molecules makes impossible the reconstruction of dinosaurs with the help of biotechnology.
Paleontologists from the University of Manchester has finally proved that it is impossible to resurrect the dinosaurs by remains found in their bone protein. About it reported in a press release published on the website Phys.org.
The researchers analyzed traces of collagen in the remains of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, to determine whether an organic substance belonged to a dinosaur. Many experts believed that the protein discovered in fossilized bones of ancient dinosaurs, is actually the result of sample contamination and belongs to the modern animals.
The results of the study showed that the “fossil” collagen corresponds to the collagen isolated from the bone of ostriches. Biopolymers (DNA and proteins), the latter used in studies to determine the evolutionary relationship between extinct and existing organisms. This refutes the point of view according to which the ancient biopolymers, including proteins, can contain fossils, which are tens of millions of years.
