The Prince could not cope with the pain of losing her mother
When Princess Diana died, Harry was only 12 years old: since it’s been almost twenty years, but in a recent documentary for ITV, the Prince admitted that a very long time trying to cope with the pain of losing her mother.
“I didn’t even try to understand what happened, — says the youngest son of lady Di. I tried to suppress emotions and pain. Now I look back and realize that I’m just sticking my head in the sand.”
In a film about the charitable activities of Harry in Africa, the Prince explained why he decided to deal with the problems of HIV-infected people: “I really wanted my mom to be proud of me, so I decided to follow in her footsteps. I had to do something. I was a child when she died, and I’m permanently stuck in that moment. But now I understand the difference between now and your former self.”
In the summer of 2006 Prince Harry went to Lesotho, where he founded Sentebale, a charitable organization aimed at improving the living conditions of AIDS patients people. This, according to the monarch, helped him start a new life. But for the first time Harry went to Africa in 2004: “I wanted to do something really worthwhile. I realize now that really are attracted to charity work.”
Recall that Princess Diana was actively involved in charity work, and most of its activities were focused on the fight against AIDS.
