Portuguese MPs supported the relevant resolution.
The Parliament of Portugal recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
This is evidenced by the relevant resolution was published on the website of the Portuguese Parliament.
So, according to the document, a draft of which was filed by the opposition Social democratic party, the Parliament of Portugal recognizes that the Holodomor – “Great famine that occurred in 1932 and 1933 in Ukraine, caused by the totalitarian Communist regime of Stalin led to the deaths of about 7 million Ukrainian citizens.”
In addition, the Parliament of Portugal passed a resolution submitted by the ruling Socialist party, which also notes that in 1932-1933 the people of Ukraine suffered from famine, which was “the result of agricultural policies, the tragic and the terrible results in the loss of millions of lives from hunger.”
