Ukraine will require an expanded mandate for the peacekeeping mission in the Donbas.
This was said at the conciliation Council of the Verkhovna Rada on Monday, the President’s representative in Parliament Iryna Lutsenko.
“On Wednesday the President will have remarks at the UN security Council, as well as a statement in the General Assembly. The President, speaking at the security Council, will push for an expanded mandate of UN peacekeepers to maintain peace which will allow the blue helmets to use weapons if necessary, and not just for self-defense,” she said.
The basic requirements for peacekeeping missions, which are imposed Ukraine – accommodation in all areas of individual regions of Donetsk and Luhansk regions where militants; placement on the uncontrolled section of the Ukrainian-Russian border; the forced clearing; the removal of Russian troops and instructors.
Recall that Russia proposes a resolution to impose a security mission to protect OSCE observers.
