Confiscated billions Yanukovych will strengthen the defense and infrastructure projects.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that are listed in the state budget UAH 40 bn previously stolen by former President Viktor Yanukovych and his entourage, will be used to strengthen the defense and infrastructure projects.
The head of state said today at a press conference on the occasion of Europe Day, and of granting Ukraine a visa-free regime with the EU.
“Considered it absolutely impossible for the confiscation and the involvement of the state budget amount, which is equal to nearly 40 billion UAH. In Ukraine, this was not. Because if there’s half a billion or billion three hundred there – 100% there is someone to offer to not come to any court, was not completed investigation. And some people thought that this will be possible, including from politicians. I can say that some people walked in a circle with these proposals, and I believe that it is a matter of honour the attorney General and Prosecutor’s office that the case went to trial and received a sentence”, – said Poroshenko.
“Some of our opposition are very worried about the fate of Yanukovych and the fate of these funds. As you can see, we do not have anyone who would deny or challenge this decision. Moreover, the period for appeal has expired, the money credited to the accounts of the State Treasury – money stolen from the citizens of Ukraine. This is restoration of justice, and the money will be used for investments in the Ukrainian defense and in Ukrainian infrastructure projects”, – said the President.
“The total amount mobilized this year, the Prosecutor General’s office under the leadership of Lutsenko, more than 50 billion UAH. Think it makes a very positive impression,” – said Poroshenko.
