President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, speaking at the Kiev security forum, spoke about the difference between Russia and Ukraine.
Poroshenko reminded about an article in 2015, wrote Timothy Snyder. Historian explores the historical differences between Russia and Ukraine. The President noted that Snyder tells of the confrontation between Ukrainian and Russian ideologies of freedom and tyranny.
Ukraine is always looking at the world through the lens of freedom, human dignity and the rule of law. We have always done and do it now. So we see our European future. This is the difference between Ukraine and Russia, – said Poroshenko.
“Russia is looking for the future of its imperialist past, where there was no freedom, human dignity and the rule of law. In the past suppressed the people, there was expansion. What they practiced before, they practice now,” added the head of state.
He noted that this is demonstrated by the illegal annexation of the Crimean Peninsula and aggression in the Donbas.
