The President believes that the moratorium on sale of agricultural land hinders the development of the agrarian market of Ukraine.
President Petro Poroshenko spoke in support of lifting the moratorium on sale of agricultural land. Its position in this matter, he announced at a meeting of the National investment Council.
“The current moratorium on the sale of land restrains your investment, hinders the development of the agrarian market, deprives a significant number of Ukrainian citizens to exercise their constitutional right to dispose of his landed property,” – said the head of state.
He also noted that there is a decision of the European court of human rights, which recognized that an absolute ban on the buying and selling of agricultural land is “a gross violation” of the European Convention on human rights, but added that the decision “not sobered our populists”.
The President said that the issue of land reform “firmly stands on the positions of the Ukrainian Constitution and European law”, but is “in this matter in the political minority.”
At the same time, he stressed that he will make maximum efforts, including from the point of view of communicative strategy on land reform.
The head of state added that the issue of the moratorium on the sale of land must win “sound economic sense”.
