President Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on amendments to Economic procedural, Civil procedural codes, the Code of administrative legal proceedings of Ukraine and other legislative acts (bill No. 6232), which triggers judicial reform. This was reported on the official website of the President.
As noted, this law introduced new rules for litigation in civil, commercial, administrative proceedings, and makes some changes to the rules of criminal procedure.
“The bill was developed by the Council for judicial reform, taking into account proposals of Ukrainian and international experts and aims to bring the Ukrainian rules of the judicial process in accordance with best European and international practice. This is the most comprehensive reform of procedural legislation for the past 26 years”, – stated in the message.
Thus, norms of this law extend the methods of judicial protection and means of proof in the trial, ensure its openness and transparency, good faith use of procedural rights, compensation for court costs, reasonable terms of consideration of cases and legal certainty, etc.
Also provides for the establishment of e-court system that will simplify communication with the court and reduce the costs of the judicial system.
“The changes that are introduced must provide an effective, fast and convenient the examination of cases in court. The new rules of the judicial process will contribute to more effective protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens and entrepreneurs applying to the court,” concluded the President.
