Poroshenko said that the worsening situation in the ATO zone

Poroshenko hopes that the sanctions would force Russia to withdraw its troops from the Donbass.

In recent years, the situation in the zone of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) in the Donbass intensified.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at the briefing following the results of participation in the summit of the European people’s party.

Poroshenko noted that lately the situation in the Donbass escalated: come the attacks on the representatives of the monitoring mission of the OSCE, has intensified attacks on civilian targets.

“The reaction of our European Union partners, and same as the reaction of our partners from the United States – the sanctions will continue”, – he stressed.

According to Poroshenko, sanctions “will allow Russia to do very simple things: to withdraw its troops, release Ukrainian hostages, and to cooperate with the OSCE mission and take their guns, tanks, multiple rocket launchers that the Russians are killing Ukrainians.”
