The President closed his page in “Vkontakte” and “Classmates”.
President Petro Poroshenko has decided to close its official pages in social networks “Classmates” and “Vkontakte” and urged Ukrainians to follow his example.
“Hybrid warfare requires adequate responses to the challenges. Therefore, in order to influence the opponents and counter-propaganda my team used some pages in Russian social networks. But the massive cyber attack of the Russian Federation around the world, in particular, the recent intervention in the election campaign in France, indicate that it is time to act differently and more decisively,” he wrote on his page in the “Classmates” and “Vkontakte”.
“The Ukrainian Internet service providers must stop providing access to “Vkontakte”, “Odnoklassniki”, “Yandex” and other Russian services. Official page of the President on these services will be closed. I urge all compatriots to immediately leave the Russian servers because of security reasons,” – said Poroshenko.
Recall that the decision of the Council, which Poroshenko has put into effect Tuesday, extended the list of individuals and legal entities of the Russian Federation, in respect of which the sanctions. The extended list included 1228 physical and legal entities. 468 In particular, Ukraine will not be allowed access to social networks “Vkontakte” and “Classmates”, as well as Mail.ru and “Yandex”.
